Explore and experience the various ways of attaining Inner, or ‘First’ Peace.
Join us when RainbowHawk and WindEagle, Elders and Keepers of an ancient tradition of Earth Wisdom, bring to South Devon their unique and inspiring words as founders of the Discipline of Peace. They will also be joined by guest speakers from other fields including conflict resolution, Quaker and Buddhist traditions.
- Learn about ‘First Peace’, its relevance to our 21st century lives and how we may attain it – how would the ability to access a ‘peace of mind’, in any situation change your life?
- Discover how we change the world around us, including our relationships and the environment, by first changing our own inner world.
- Listen to other perspectives on peace from guest speakers of other traditions
NEW: We are very pleased to announce that we will be joined on the Sunday by Scilla Elworthy. Scilla has lectured extensively around the world and has appeared on television and radio throughout the last 20 years. She was the founder director of the Oxford Research Group, has received the Niwano Peace Prize, and has been nominated 3 times for the Nobel Peace Prize. Recently she has been advisor to Richard Branson, Nelson Mandela and Peter Gabriel on the creation of ‘The Elders’ group – an organisation created to address the current lack of independent moral global leaders.
You are invited to help launch a People’s movement, the Disciplines of Peace here in theUK. This is a global, multicultural movement, and is a movement of significance so youcan bring your presence to this event knowing that it will make a difference.

- When: 6pm Friday 7th May – 4pm Sunday 9th May, 2010
- Cost: £75 per person, £10 per child (under 13). NEW: Due to popular demand we are making the weekend more available as single days [Fri: £15(incl eve meal); Sat: £40(incl lunch and eve meal); Sun: £35(incl lunch)] though we do recommend that people attend the full weekend. Donations to a bursary fund are also welcome in order to assist those who need it.
- Child care: there will be a CRB checked child minder and a variety of suitable activities.

The Format:
- Friday: Dinner around 6.30pm, followed by introductions and enquiry into First Peace.
- Saturday: During the day we will open each of the eight principles that form the foundation of the Discipline of Peace, with a short presentation followed by a story to illustrate them. We will also have a practical experience of them and as a group will share methods that can work for us in our daily lives.
- Sunday: Earth Wisdom Council + Panel discussion with representatives of various disciplines of peace.
